Narita Express NEX This guide will hopefully help those who are coming to Japan for the first time, and want to get from Narita to Tokyo. When you arrive in Narita and once you’ve gotten through the security areas. You will be faced with a busy international airport. Unlike most international airports I found Narita airport to be quite narrow. It will be full of people heading in both directions.

Getting from Narita to Tokyo you basically 3 options, express train, local train, or bus. I highly suggest you take the first option. Sure you will save a bit of cash taking the bus or the local train, but for comfort, and sake of ease the express train will save you time and frustration.

Bus - Narita to Tokyo

The bus takes a longer and you have most likely already been sitting far too long for comfort. Also at the end of the ride you will most likely need to find your way to the station which is not easy your first time in Japan Shinjuku station is HUGE!

Local Train - Narita to Tokyo

With the local train you will at least be in the station but then again it’s a long ride!

Express Trains - Narita to Tokyo

There are two express trains to Tokyo. The Skyliner Airport Express to Ueno and the Narita Express to Shinjuku.

The Skyliner Airport Express takes 51 minutes

You can reserve a seat with a major travel agency, at a convenience store, on the Internet, or by cell phone site or phone, as well as at the Skyliner stop stations.

Keisei Ueno/Nippori Station to Airport Terminal 2/Narita Airport
Adult: 1,920 yen (Regular fare ¥1000+ Express ticket ¥920)
Child: 960 yen (Regular fare¥500 + Express ticket ¥460)

Keisei Funabashi to Airport Terminal 2/Narita Airport
Adult: 1,220 yen (Regular fare ¥720+ Express ticket ¥500)
Child: 610 yen (Regular fare¥360 + Express ticket ¥250)
Morning liner/Evening liner: Regular fare + Express ticket (Adult ¥400, Child ¥200)

Evening liner day ticket is available only at Ueno, Nippori, Aoto Station (after 4:00PM).

Reservation time	From one month to 2 days prior to the boarding date from 09:00 to 18:00
Ticket claim	Ticket claim at Keisei Ueno Information Office (In Keisei Ueno Station). 8 days from the reservation date, if reserved one month to 10 days prior to the scheduled boarding date. 2 days prior to the boarding date, if reserved 9 to 2 days prior to the boarding date. Ticket claim time 09:00-18:00. If the ticket is not claimed by due time, the reservation is automatically cancelled.

Timetable information

The Narita Express N'EX to Shinjuku

The Narita Express N'EX to Shinjuku is operated by JR and is located in the lowest level of Narita Terminal 1 & 2.
One great thing about the Narita Express is that if you are coming to Japan with a Japan Rail Pass. The fare is fully coverd!

The Narita Express also has a Green Car (First Class) which has larger seats and mroe leg room. Personally the regular seats are just fine for me and I am pretty tall.

The regular fees are (Adult) 2,940 yen, (Child)-1,470 yen; Green Car (First Class) 4980 yen

You are now in Tokyo...now what?

Okay well the first thing is to get your bearings. Tokyo is a big loop so you can’t get lost, theoretically. The Yamanote Line is the Green Line and it basically circles Tokyo with all the suburbs sprouting off it. Most of the major cities are on the Yamanote Line.
