Years ago my wife and I spent our last weekend with a family pet who was dying. I called into work on a Monday morning and held the dog until the veterinary clinic opened. I stayed with him while they administered the shot then carried him home in a cardboard box to be buried. After I buried my loving pet I sat at my keyboard and composed this song.
