Coming from Canada my brain is still telling me to carry everything I can with me where ever I go.

But after many years living in Japan my brain now has a few gliches and is starting to be re-programed. I do it the Japanese way now where or whenever I go anywhere.

I just mail everything to a buddies house or the hotel I'm staying at and it always arrives when I say but I usualy just say next day anytime. Its cheap too a pretty big bag or a suit case upto 30kg will run you 2,500 yen not bad an no hassel at the airport or draggin it through train stations. I think its a great price for relaxation and security hassells at the airports. Same price as a meal and a beer! >:( (

Just mail it? like UPS or something.
Huh. . . never thought about that really.

Like you said before bringing it with you, I feel like I would need it and what if it got lost on the way there? it would be better to have it with me.

The domestic delivery system her is awesome. When I goto Tokyo. I mail my whole pc to my destination and whatever else I want with me. Then when I take the bullet train all I need is my wallet ipod, and a beer. When I arive in Tokyo I have no luggage to worry about and can head directly into the action.

I usually head to Shinjuku first, drop by my favorite bookstore Kinokuniya (It is the largest bookstore in Japan great for all my English reading needs).

Then grab the train to Ikebukuro. Play a few games at the arcade. Head over to the best starbucks in Tokyo read my new book and enjoy a Frapachino Tall Size.

Then its to Shibuya to check out the new cool trends. Have a beer at 5pm at the club.

Then back to Shinjuku to goto my favorite Heavy Metal Bar "Mother."

After that I go find a hotel. Then go check out the night scene sometimes I make it back to the hotel sometimes I don't haha.

The next day my luggage arrives to where ever I sent it usually a friends house if I don't know where I was gonna be staying.

I had a nightmarish trip from home to airport last time, because my friend talked me into it. She said we shouldn't use delivery service or even taxi and I was stupid enough to agree
But never more.

I really don't think it's that necessary just for travel. I visited my old host family during Spring, took a big ol' suitcase, and went from LAX to ?? and I even took the wrong train to ?? until I got to ?? and ended up fine. I'm pretty weak, too.
