Finding a place to put your money while living in Japan can be a challenge. The banks offer very low rates of interest, and other investment types typically require a large lump sum deposit. Sending your money home is an option but it is an option that costs you money each month.

Whether you are looking to supplement or replace your public pension, buy a family home, save for a child's education, or just have something for a rainy day.

What to bring to Japan SuitcaseWhat should I bring to Japan? Well this really depends on your personality and comfort level. Although no matter who you are I highly recommend that you travel lightly! Trains in Japan have little or no room for large suitcases Also many station platforms are not equipped with escalators or elevators, lugging that huge suitcase up and down platform stairs will quickly diminish your experience of Japan. Coin lockers are an option for storing midsized luggage, In large stations like Shinjuku or Shibuya station. Large coin lockers are available for large suitcases, but they are in high demand and the chance of finding an empty one slim.

The governmnet is going to start regulating the internet in Japan. Including personal blogs!

"On Dec. 6, the government released a final report, compiled by a study group set up by the ministry of affairs, and Communications, which set out plans to monitor and regulate the Internet in Japan. The proposed regulation targets all Web content, including online forms of traditional media uch as newspaper articles and television brodcasting, while additionally covering user-generated content such as blogs and Web pages."

Well I just hope they don't take it too far.

"Internet regulation in other areas is similarly moving ahead apace. Administrators plan to submit a bill on the unification of broadcast and communications laws to the regular Diet session in 2010. Default Web filtering on mobile phones for minors starts this year.
